Grants for Micro-Loans

Your donation to Global Goats will provide the seed money for grants which will in turn make it possible for those locked out of the credit market to get a small start in a business which will continue to grow and provide an escape from poverty’s grip. When the loan is repaid either in currency or in-kind (another mature goat), the grant funds will be re-circulated among others for development projects.

Projects financed through these grants may also provide seed money for others to begin an associated business like a yogurt factory, a butcher shop, wool consolidator, hide tanner or even an unrelated business, but it all begins with goats and sheep.

Global Goats is currently working in Kenya, Rwanda with programs scheduled for Haiti and Honduras. It is already being reported that “flocks are growing.” Our first project was in Limuru, Kenya in December of 2009.

How to Contribute

For nearly 40 years, we’ve provided care to thousands through the tireless efforts and dedication of a few. We need your help to reach many areas of the world and offer the freedom of self reliance to deserving individuals in those communities.

Your charitable gift to Global Goats is tax deductible. Global Goats is a project of Global Outreach, Inc., a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization. Financial accountability is overseen by the board treasurer and is available upon request.

Financial contributions are the beginning of any philanthropic endeavor and no contribution is too large or small. Charitable Remainder Trusts and Family Charitable Trusts have certain advantages for donors and are an excellent method for making contributions of larger amounts. If you do not presently have a Charitable Remainder Trust or family charitable trust and would like to explore their advantages, we are happy to refer you to responsible financial and legal professionals who can help determine what is right for your personal situation.

Checks may be made to “Global Goats” and your contribution is tax-deductible. Global Goats is a project of Global Outreach, Inc.

Depending on the local market, meat goats and sheep can cost $50-75. Dairy goats generally begin at $150. If you have an area you would like your gifts to support within our current projects, please feel free to designate your gift. If you have an area in which Global Goats is not currently operating, we are happy to explore the feasibility of starting a goat project in a new community.

Traditionally micro-loans have a very high rate of repayment and do far more good than an outright gift. Help us help others become more productive and reduce poverty through sustainable development.
